Mirage Aircraft for Flight Simulator Mirage and Jet Sound Files
|
Part of the Mirage experience is the distinctive sound of the SNECMA Atar engine. On occasion
designers of aircraft for Flight Simulator also provide sound files in their aircraft packages.
On this page you will find these sound files for use with other Mirage aircraft that otherwise
would use the default Learjet sounds. In some cases the sound files have been separated
from the original aircraft to keep the filesize down. In these situations permission to
do so has been granted exclusively. So please do not upload these anywhere else.

When evaluating replacment sounds in Flight Simulator you might want to listen to the real thing first.
Here is a
page of sounds from the Dassualt Aviation website.
Another reference, listen to this Mirage 2000 sound file from Francesco
Missarino's THE MIX website.
It was recorded in May 1998 at Pratica di Mare AFB in Italy during practice flights for an air show.
The SNECMA M53 powered Mirage was performing a vertical full AB climb.

Alpha Simulations released several of their earlier jet aircraft soundsets as freeware. The soundsets was originally intended for FS98
and CFS1 so they do not have engine startup or shutdown sounds. But they are now freeware and you
may find you like them. If you feel that any of these are a good Mirage sound,
please let me know which one(s). Instructions for use are included.
